SpeXial's personal interview has come to the final chapter, and looking at the previous groups bringing out the sparks, Riley and Ian, being the youngest in the group, exhibited their talents and claimed that they are not just creating news (oops). They took out their skill sets and talked about their favourite electric music and beatbox skills with <JUKSY>'s readers. Do not look down on them just because they are young, they can go on and on when it comes to what they're good at, and perhaps it's because of their passion, they are persistent when it comes to something they love, and it's definitely not just play, they're serious. Riley, with a slightly mischievous smile, loved DJs because (DJs) get to control the atmosphere of the entire venue; and Ian is always taking very long in the shower because he is practicing B-Box in the shower. Little editor invited him to perform impromptu and for the benefits of our readers, the surprise performance by Ian is at the end of the passage. State a skill which you are proud of. Riley:DJ。It's the kind whereby you get to control and come up with electric music, not the broadcast station kind of DJ. (Laugh) Ian:That's got got to be B-Box How did you come into contact with such skills? Riley:DJ because I started listening to electric music at the age of 14/15, I'd started off with the very heavy kind, known as "Hard style". I used to listen to metal music, and am used to heavy styles, so I'd liked (hardstyle) when I first listened to it, and then I started to experiment around on my own; after listening for two years, I'd always wanted to get even closer to it, and the first step is by being a DJ. I feel that DJs are very charismatic, because one person affects that may people dancing, I like the feeling of having control over the crowd, so I saved up and bought a DJ console. Ian:I got into contact with B-Box in the first year of high school. Friends showed me videos of B-Box on the internet, I felt that they were really awesome, and wondered how one used his/her mouth to create sounds. From then I knew B-Box, and learnt from the internet and started performing after I got better at it. How often do you practice it now? Riley:Previously I still did, and I'd recommend some songs on Facebook, but right now work's too busy so there's not much time to play. Ian:Basically whenever I'm free, I have a habit of B-BOX-ing in the shower, it's easier to B-Box when your lips are wet. Who is your motivation for learning? Riley:Too many awesome seniors to learn from, the list is never ending. ECHO。Because when I was learning B-Box from the internet, I found his videos and only then did I know that Taiwan had someone that good in B-Box. Hope to be as good as him one day. What kind of research will you do usually? Riley:I'll listen to the songs played by the Top 100 DJs, learn their Mix, take in the essences of their experiences. Because they'll Mix about an hour every month, listening to how they do it, and then I'll go figure it out myself and learn, and then create my own style. Ian:I'll watch at least 2-3 strong overseas individuals from the internet everyday. and try to learn new techniques. When did you openly perform your skills in public? Riley:Never had any opportunities to perform (publicly) Ian:The first public performance was in second year of high school, it was a talent time event, seniors were everywhere and I was both nervous and looking forward to my own performance. Why does this skill set attract you so much? Riley:I feel that the mostattractive aspect of a DJ is that through a DJ console and Mixes, you can make the audiences below dance and indulge in your Mix; this is not just being touched, it's an indescribable satisfaction. Ian:Initially, B-Box attracted me because it did not require any instruments, it's all by your own mouth. After performing, when I first heard the loud cheers meant for me, I was really touched, and was full of confidence, so I'd decided that I've got to make something out of B-Box. Whose songs are you listening to recently? Riley:Hah! This is difficult! Because the songs I listen to everyday are from a very wide genre and are just too many; I'll listen to songs based on the situation and my mood Ian:Sasme as Riley, I'll pick songs based on my mood. For people who wish to pick up B-Box, how should they start? Ian:I feel that you'll first need to not be afraid of being embarassed. You can start by learning from videos, learn the mnemonics before trying, and you must not be lazy with practice, wait till your basics are done, only then can you try more creative pieces. What song would DJ Riley recommend to our readers today? Riley:I guess it definitely is our <Dangerous>! Recently, we worked with "Maze Runner" and the Maze Runner version of the MV is out I hope everyone will go watch it. Translations by Something SpeXial
